Job Description

Jenningsbet is a well respected, established name in the betting industry. The Company was formed in 1961 and now has around 100 modern and customer friendly betting offices scattered around the UK.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • To develop the shop as a business unit, growing its customer base, gross win per week and profitability.
  • The post holder will be responsible for planning, organising
  • and coordinating the activities of the betting shop. You will be responsible for excellent levels of customer service and for ensuring the profitability of the shop as a business.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

  • To deliver and exceed the targeted Gross Win per Week.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND PROCEEDS OF CRIME ACT:

  • To ensure the highest standards of social responsibility are operated within the shop
  • To ensure that your staff have received the correct training.

MARKETING:

  • To ensure that company wide campaigns are properly implemented.
  • To review the posters on display in a shop on a weekly basis and ensure they are kept fresh and up to date.
  • To monitor the activity of your competitors and report and suggest tactical offerings.

TRADING:

  • To ensure that the trading standards are maintained and to deliver the targeted margin for the shop.

REPORTING:

  • To ensure that all reports required by the company are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Acceptance of bets, accurate settlement and payment of winning bets in accordance with company procedure.
  • Payment of winnings from in-shop gaming machines.
  • Building customer relationships in order to create a desirable shop atmosphere and obtain customer loyalty.
  • You will be required to have a sound knowledge of all aspects of betting available within the shop and a good knowledge of all sporting events.

CASH HANDLING AND BALANCING PROCEDURES:

  • Managing the amount of cash in shop in line with Company procedures, including banking.
  • Monitoring business activity, daily and weekly figures against business targets.
  • You will be expected to be fully conversant with all aspects of accepting and hedging bets in order that the shop liabilities are controlled at all times.

SHOP PRESENTATION:

  • To ensure that racing papers are displayed in the shop before opening, in line with the marketing standards folder.
  • To ensure that the shop is safe, tidy and clean
  • To monitor stock levels of slips and stationery in the shop and replenish as necessary.

PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITY:

  • To use your initiative to instigate shop promotions.
  • To assist Head Office in promotional activities, designed to increase shop business and brand awareness.
  • To be aware of all competitor activities, advising your Area Manager on anything you consider a threat to our business.

SHOP SECURITY:

  • Recognising betting patterns and behaviours and taking action if required.
  • Monitoring and logging customer business as required.
  • Notifying the Race Room of high staking business in order to assist in increasing shop profitability.
  • Maintenance of shop systems such as the alarm, CCTV, safe insert, gaming machines, and so on. The jobholder will be required to report any faults to the service provider immediately.

HEALTH & SAFETY:

 

  • To take all possible steps to provide a safe working environment to comply with the law in line with company policy.

  • Responsible for in-shop Health & Safety training to comply with legislation.
  •  
  • Responsible for implementing and managing Health & Safety in line with company procedures.
  •  
  • To co-operate with external Health & Safety visitors.

WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS

 

Flexibility of employment is important to our business. We offer full time and part time positions. We operate seven days a week and weekends are historically the busiest trading days of the week. We stay open during the evening every day and the need for flexible working arrangements means that you are required to work evenings in order to satisfy the operational requirements.
