Job Purpose

Working within the Data Operations team, Operators are tasked with ensuring the timely and accurate input and processing of all data handled by the team.

To provide a display service for independent customers worldwide.

To provide a superior quality assurance, monitoring and integrity services of incoming data.  This will involve providing this service for up to 4 meetings at any one time (fixture list and content type permitting).

Reporting Lines and Key Relationships

The role reports to the assigned Data Operations Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

In line with the SIS Values, the main responsibilities of the Data Operations Operator are set out below.


  • Ensure the provision of an accurate and timely betting and racing data service including collection and processing for all content types. 
  • Provision of monitoring, quality assurance and integrity services escalating any matters of concern or inaccuracies to the senior team on duty. 
  • When required, provide back up to on course and trading teams in the event of DR or technical issues that prevent them being able to provide a service.
  • To attend regular performance review meetings with the Data Operations Supervisor and contribute to own self development plan..
  • To highlight any technical issues to the Senior Operator or Supervisor. 

Customer Focus

  • To ensure data content required to be input is done so in an accurate and timely manner.
  • When required to provide display services due to DR or extreme absence in MK, manage display content to enhance our customers business and maximise betting opportunities.
  • To develop and build effective relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service making the most of tools to support fast, professional responses.  These could include instant messaging, email or others.
  • Provide responses to all queries, whether internal or external, in a courteous and professional manner. Escalating to the Senior Operator or the Information Supervisor as required.


  • To assist in the training of new starters as required.
  • To develop a harmonious, effective working environment for colleagues.
  • To be flexible and multi-skilled by working in any area of Data operations.
  • To build effective working relationships with SIS On-Course and Trading Team members.


  • To escalate issues with SIS operating systems to the Senior Operator or Supervisor.
  • To review processes and make suggestions to improve operations to the Data Operations Supervisor.
  • To be committed to continuous personal development.


  • To immediately escalate any issue involving incorrect data or display management to the Senior Operator or Information Supervisor.
  • To act in accordance with all SIS Policies & Procedures.
  • To uphold the integrity of SIS by ensuring the company policy on betting is adhered to.
  • To ensure that the best interests of SIS are upheld at all times.
  • To provide high quality and timely delivery of duties.
  • To respect the confidentiality of SIS working practices outside of the workplace.
  • To ensure health & safety policy is adhered to; taking into account the wellbeing and safety of yourself and your colleagues.

Person Specification











GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics and English grade C or above.



Bookmakers Settlers Course pass



Experience & Knowledge



Experience of inputting data.


Experience in dealing with customers.


An interest in horse and greyhound racing and or/ sport.


Previous experience working in a bookmakers.



Abilities & Skills




Ability to accurately input, interpret and process large amounts of data.


Ability to work calmly under pressure.


Ability to work flexibly, on own initiative and as part of a team.


Ability to prioritise and manage own workload effectively.


Professional manner and customer focussed.


Ability to manage relationships with tact and diplomacy.


Proficient in Microsoft word and outlook computer systems.





Ability to understand betting odds and racing data.


Proficient in Microsoft Excel.










Flexibility to work shift patterns; the role is part of a 7 day a week, 16 hour per day operation which includes Bank Holidays, evenings and weekends.
