Job Description

The Public Affairs Department provides a full range of proactive communications functions to the Club including the formulation of communication strategy, issue management, racing and non-racing media relations; racing, betting, charity information and overall publicity; as well as organisation of corporate PR programmes and projects. 

The Job

You will:

  • be responsible for racing stories content planning and development for both pre-raceday preview stories and wrap up stories on the raceday 
  • develop racing feature stories on selected topics to promote racing as a sport 
  • collaborate with other teams in the development and implementation of a racing stories campaign for feature race meetings 
  • provide editorial support to the Integrated Content Team work stream
  • provide write-up drafting / polishing / editing as required
  • work with other team members to promote racing through social media channels
  • prepare racing-related speeches, presentations for senior management and corporate communication materials related to racing as required
  • provide onsite communications support at Conghua Racecourse and industry conferences as required
  • work on Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday on roster basis and occasionally work beyond normal working hours

About You

You should have:

  • at least 10 years’ solid work experience as racing or sports journalist in the media industry
  • profound domain knowledge of horse racing
  • solid knowledge of the global racing / sports media landscape and extensive personal connections with stakeholders
  • relevant experience in team leadership and collaboration
  • rich experience in social media communication and publicity
  • understanding of sensitive issues related to horse racing and public sentiment
  • understanding of corporate and business thinking and practices 
  • experience in providing horse racing form comments and relevant write-up is definitely an advantage

Terms of Employment:

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualification and experience.  A contract employment will be offered to the successful candidate. Contract renewal will be subject to mutual agreement between the Club and the individual.
