Job Description

Job purpose

To sell advertising across all classified channels, with a specific focus on meeting and exceeding sales targets as well as various administrative duties.


  • To meet and exceed business plan objectives.
  • Develop new advertising revenues streams and concepts for new features.
  • Sell across all classified products, including print, on-line and mobile
  • Produce new sales initiatives, including features and supplements
  • Responsible for day to day ad production, including the following responsibilities:
    • Await ad to drop onto the ad-watch system, print barcode and attach advert ready for delivery to production department
    • Proof reading advertisements and obtain customer verification, whilst liaising with the ad production department
    • Shared management of page production
    • Liaise directly with clients and agencies
    • Checking all advertisements appear as required
  • Daily check of all departmental communication channels, including; advertising email group in box, voicemail and incoming post
  • Liaise with Finance Department on a regular basis to arrange appropriate credit terms for individual clients
  • Canvassing of customers, including selling best possible size and series
  • Make follow up calls to all advertisers to assess response rates and up sell repeat booking
  • Ensure ad bookings are accurately booked on ABS Booking System
  • Source potential new business via industry publications and websites
  • Up sell to advertisers’ full suite of commercial products, including print and online
  • Any other task as and when required to support the commercial sales team
