Job Description

RACETECH Job Vacancy

Trainee Multi-Skilled Operator, starting at £20k p.a., rising with experience, full-time, permanent

RaceTech provides a unique range of technical and broadcast services to the horse racing industry – from cameras and full outside broadcast production, public address and audio systems, to photofinish and many other technical solutions.

Trainee Multi-Skilled Operators are sought to work on live sports outside broadcasts at racecourses in the North, Midlands and South. Please specify your preferred area.

Trainee MSOs will embark on an extensive training programme to fulfil a wide range of operational tasks covering race and presentation cameras, production VT, graphics, photo finish, public address, rigging and HGV driving; all in a live sports Outside Broadcast environment. Familiarisation with OB sound and vision engineering concepts and basic directing is also provided.  The role also includes a variety of general OB tasks, to ensure the smooth operation and delivery of technical services to our racecourses and broadcast partners. Various career paths are available to successful candidates upon completion of the training programme.

With a degree level of education in engineering, media/broadcast or similar, you must be physically fit, comfortable working at heights, in isolation and exposed to the elements, with strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and be part of a team. Adept at MS Office and Broadcast IT, a knowledge of live sports broadcasting is desirable as is any with cameras, lenses or photography and ideally an interest or knowledge of horse racing; but willingness to learn and develop is key.  You must also be prepared to travel and to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.  A driving licence is essential and we will also offer training for an HGV licence.
