BODOG, the online betting brand, have closed down their operation in the Caribbean leading to the loss of around 150 jobs.

The company earlier this year delayed plans to expand UK-based services in the wake of government plans to change to a point-of-consumption tax, system resulting in job losses. Nowe they plan to move their business in Antigua, called Call Center Services, to the Philippines on cost grounds.

Earlier this year Bodog founder Calvin Ayres was indicted in Maryland with conducting gambling business and money laundering conspiracy totalling $100 million.

Ayre is fighting the indictment which involves the movement of funds in Switzerland, Britain, Malta and Canada and the hiring of media resellers and advertisers to promote internet gambling.
