Content specialist Rachel is new Head of Business Data

Content specialist Rachel Coulson has joined SIS from Betfair as Head of Business Data.

She will take ownership of all data across the company, understanding the elements of the delivery supply chain and linking with commercial and product executives to drive data strategy.

Coulson has 20 years’ experience in managing the provision of content and data to traditional and digital platforms in the media and betting sectors.

At Betfair she was responsible for identifying and building partnerships with strategic technology and data suppliers to enable betting opportunities on both the Betfair Exchange and Sportsbook.

Prior to that, Coulson held a range of senior roles at the Press Association. She oversaw the set-up of PA’s copytaking and transcription business, CopyDirect, and was instrumental in developing an offshore data operation in India. She spent two years in Pune, before returning to England to head up PA’s data operations, with particular focus on global football and horse racing.

Coulson said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining SIS as it broadens out from its traditional business into the digital sphere. I’ve worked with them in the past both at PA and at Betfair, and always found them to be a company focused on quality and good service.”

Coulson will work across a number of areas, including the new Business Growth initiative, Information Technology, the Infocentres and the Product and Production teams to develop data as products that can be packaged and marketed to retail and online media and bookmakers.

“Rachel’s role will include the acquisition and delivery of data, and will help us develop new product sets as we move more into the digital world, while ensuring we maintain and develop high-quality data services for our retail customers.”

Coulson will work closely with Marc Thomas, who joined SIS as Head of Product in January.
