Ladbrokes appoint David Martin to board

10 October 2013

LADBROKES have announced the appointment of David Martin as a non-executive director with effect from October 31. His appointment follows the decision by John Jarvis to retire from the company's board in 2014, which was announced earlier this year.

Martin, a qualified accountant, is chief executive of Arriva plc, one of Europe's largest passenger transport providers and has been involved in the public transport industry since 1986.

He joined the Arriva board in 1998 with specific responsibility for the group's international operations and development and has been chief executive since 2006.

The group previously announced that Jarvis is to retire from the board at the conclusion of the group's AGM in 2014. He has been an independent non-executive director since July 2006 and is currently chairman of the board's remuneration committee.

Commenting on the appointment, Ladbrokes chairman Peter Erskine, said: "I am delighted to welcome David to the board. His extensive management experience, notably of international operations, is particularly relevant at this stage of the group's development and will complement the existing skills of the board."
