Ladbrokes: opened up a new digital marketing office in Israel

LADBROKES have announced that they have recruited Jim Mullen from William Hill to head their digital operation.

Mullen, who was chief operating officer of William Hill Online, will join Ladbrokes in November reporting directly to chief executive Richard Glynn.

The news coincides with Ladbrokes opening their new digital marketing services operation Ladbrokes Israel, the first manifestation of their new link-up with Playtech.

Glynn said of Mullen's appointment: "Today marks a significant step in our positioning of Ladbrokes as a major player in the rapidly evolving digital market. The appointment of Jim Mullen allied to the start of Ladbrokes Israel means we have strong foundations in place to accelerate our growth in this important area.

"He brings a wealth of hands on experience, having worked with Playtech for the last three years. He will join at an exciting time and we look forward to him helping us make the Ladbrokes brand as strong in the digital arena as we are on the High Street."

Ladbrokes Israel is a wholly owned, ecommerce and digital marketing services operation based in Tel Aviv which will be managed by a marketing team very familiar with Playtech software.

Mullen worked with Playtech as part of William Hill Online and the hope will be that he can replicate that success with Ladbrokes, whose digital offering has lagged behind their rivals and who issued a profits warning in April.

Until Mullen's arrival Nick Rust, the director channels, will have responsibility for both the digital business and UK and Ireland retail and will continue to be in charge of the latter after November, along with additional responsibilities for the delivery of the group's central services across the business.
