McCue announced as new Paddy Power chief

08 September 2014

PADDY POWER revealed Andy McCue as their new chief executive and director.

McCue will succeed Patrick Kennedy on January 1, 2015, with Kennedy announcing he would stand down from his role at the bookmaker's AGM in May.

Having joined Paddy Power in 2006 as head of strategy for UK retail, McCue was then appointed managing director for the same sector in 2009 and joined the Paddy Power plc management committee.

Last year, McCue was appointed managing director for retail in UK and Ireland, and commenting on his new position, said: "I am very excited to be taking on the leadership of Paddy Power.

"Patrick [Kennedy] has transformed the business over the last ten years, strongly positioning us in attractive markets which are delivering good payback. We have a tremendous team and I very much look forward to working with them to build on that success by continuing to engage customers with the best value, product and brand."

Outgoing chief executive Kennedy added: "This is a great day for Paddy Power. Andy will bring energy, strong leadership and a detailed knowledge of the business to the role of chief executive. I look forward to working closely with him over the coming months. The future of Paddy Power is in excellent hands."
