Geraldine McKay: held senior positions in hotel sector for over 17 years

McKay will join the group on August 23 from the Wordsworth Hotel & Spa in Grasmere, Cumbria, where she is general manager. She had previously held senior positions in the hotel sector for over 17 years.

She replaces Richard Clements who has moved to a commercial events management role at Oxford City Council.

In her new job McKay will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Carlisle and will report to John Baker, who is responsible for Carlisle, Aintree and Haydock Park as Jockey Club Racecourses' north west regional director.

Baker said: "In a highly competitive process, Geraldine impressed with her expertise and I believe the experience she has gained in the leisure industry will be hugely beneficial for Carlisle racecourse."

McKay added: "I'm delighted and somewhat honoured to be joining such a prestigious organisation.

"I'm very much looking forward to working with the team at Carlisle racecourse and more widely within Jockey Club Racecourses to ensure our raceday customers have a great day out enjoying some fantastic sport and our events customers have an experience that exceeds their expectations."
