Nottingham to have new general manager

06 August 2014

NOTTINGHAM racecourse is to have its own dedicated general manager for the first time in more than eight years with the appointment of James Knox, the Jockey Club has announced.

Knox moves north from Nottingham's sister track Sandown where he was general manager of Jockey Club Catering.

Pip Kirkby has jointly managed both Market Rasen and Nottingham since 2006.

Knox said: "I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity to lead the excellent team at Nottingham and develop the racecourse within the Jockey Club.

"I aim to use my experience within the catering business of the group to manage a racecourse directly for the first time. I am also delighted to have the chance to return to the city of Nottingham where I have many happy memories from my time at the Royal Centre and Ice Centre."

Amy Starkey, the regional director for Jockey Club Racecourses' eastern area, added: "We believe that Colwick Park has much potential both as a racecourse and as a regional conference and events centre. James' experience and ability ideally position him to take forward the racecourse to the next level as part of the Jockey Club group."
