Prosser appointed new GamCare chairman

FORMER Bass plc chairman and chief executive Sir Ian Prosser has been appointed as the new chairman of gambling charity GamCare.

He fills the role left vacant by the death of Anthony Jennens in January.

Prosser, a chartered accountant, has had a long business career mainly in the brewing and hospitality industry and is also the chairman of the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI), BP Pension Trustees Ltd and the Aviva Staff Pension Fund.

He said: "I am delighted to be joining GamCare as Chairman.  I have been tremendously impressed by the skill and dedication of the GamCare staff and I look forward to working with them to make a real difference to the lives of problem gamblers and their families."

GamCare president Lord Sharman of Redlynch said he was pleased Prosser had agreed to take on the role of chairman.

He added: "The trustees and I have every confidence that he will take the charity from strength to strength and continue to develop the outstanding work done by his predecessor, Anthony Jennens OBE, who sadly passed away in January.

"Sir Ian's significant experience and insight and will reinforce the charity's reputation and help us to develop and improve our services."
