Racingfotos founder Shelton dies suddenly at 55

GEORGE SHELTON, director and company secretary of Britain’s horseracing picture agency,has died suddenly aged 55, writes David Baxter. 

Shelton collapsed on Monday night while visiting his gun club near his home in Nottingham. The cause of death is as yet unknown.Managing director Andy Watts, who co-founded the company with Shelton, paid tribute and said:“George loved horseracing and meeting other photographers and industry members at all the major meetings,most recently at last weekend’s Grand National. 

“After a career with the Mail on Sunday as its dedicated racing photographer,he founded with me 12 years ago and, as he would most definitely have wanted after all his hard work, the business will continue as previously, although I will hugely miss him as both a director and trusted friend.” 

Details of funeral arrangementswill be disclosed in due course. Shelton is survived by his wife Geraldineand daughter Nicole.
