Record Entry for Stud and Stable Staff Awards

30 December 2015

A RECORD number of 220 entries have been submitted for the 2016 Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards, which take place in London on February 22.

There has been support for the awards across the board, with nominations from yards and studs of all sizes in recognition of the outstanding work and dedication of stud and stable employees.

All the nominations have been verified and the 12-strong judging panel, which includes former jockeys Peter Scudamore,Mark Bradburne and Dale Gibson, plus last year’s Employee of the Year Jess Fortt and Tabbi Smith, training director at the National Stud, are now assessing the entries.

Chairman of the judging panel Brough Scott said: “Having record nominations is a really nice bit of Christmas news asit recognises the work that stud and stable staff do every day, never more than at this time of year.

“Horses still need to be looked after on holidays and over Christmas, and the dedication and care shown by the people now nominated is wonderfully inspiring.Judging between them is one of the most deliciously difficult privileges around and I feel lucky to be doing it.”

A short-list of ten nominees for each category will be announced next month, and these will later be whittled down to three finalists.

The winners and runners-up will be announced at an evening ceremony, hosted by Clare Balding and guest presenter Tony McCoy, at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel in Knightsbridge.
