Scoop6 supremo Primarolo leaves Betfred

18 July 2012

GEORGE PRIMAROLO, who has masterminded the public relations effort behind the Scoop6 for the past three and a half years, is leaving Betfred for pastures new.

"The time has come for a change and to do different things, and I will be going in the next month or two," said Primarolo, 33, who is due to marry Beverley racecourse chief executive Sally Iggulden in October.

After completing the British Horseracing Board graduate scheme in 2000, Primarolo worked for both bet365 and Blue Square before joining the Tote in December 2008, and retained his PR role after the state-owned bookmaker was bought by Fred Done last summer.

It is not known at this stage whether racecourse regular Primarolo will remain in the betting industry as he considers where his career will take him next. "There are a couple of options I am mulling over, both inside and outside the industry, so I will sit down and have a good think," he said.

Following Primarolo’s departure, it is likely his responsibilities will be taken over by Betfred's head of media Mark Pearson.
