SIS supremo Smith salutes departing stalwart Irvine

07 April 2015

SIS chief executive Gary Smith last week paid tribute to George Irvine, managing director of Betting and International for the betting shop services provider, saying he will be missed when he leaves the company at the end of this year.
Irvine, the longest serving member of staff at SIS is leaving to set up a consultancy. “During his 28 years with the company, George has contributed to many innovations in our products and services,” said Smith. “These have included bringing new international content to the SIS schedule, supporting the creation of the Sky Greyhounds proposition and concluding complex international customer relationships in various territories across the world.”
Over the coming months, the SIS team will take over Irvine’s responsibilities. David Bradshaw will take on British and Irish horseracing, Gordon Bissett will retain full responsibility for British greyhound racing products, Bob Stewart will continue to handle international sales, and Jim Proudfoot will continue to manage the on-course team responsible for collecting data and providing betting integrity function on-course. During the remainder of his time with SIS, Irvine will undertake special projects for the SIS board, and provide support and advice to the team.
He will also continue to progress the acquisition of certain international content rights.
Smith added: “George has been a valued member of the team and he’ll be missed. “We’re very pleased SIS will continue to benefit from his knowledge for the rest of the year. We wish him every success for the future.”
