Stable staff line up for Doncaster charity race

29 June 2015

LAST week’s Brighton winner Port Lairge is among a 12-strong line-up at Doncaster this afternoon for the inaugural running of the Clock Tower Cup, a charity race run in aid of Racing Welfare in which the participants are all stable staff.

The 7f hands-and-heels event, which will be started by flag at 1.25pm is restricted to staff riding for their own stables, and Port Lairge’s trainer John Gallagher is delighted at the opportunity to reward his 27-year-old head girl Kelly Adams for all her hard work.

He said: “Kelly came into racing from eventing and worked for Richard Guest and Andrew Balding before she joined me. She looks after Port Lairge and has worked very hard on him, as he had one or two issues when he came to us and they seem to be behind him.

“When this race came up I thought it would be a nice way to say thank you,and as her parents live just outside Doncaster she won’t lack support.”Donations can be made by visiting tower cup for links to individual riders’ fundraising pages, or by mobile, texting RACW14 followed by£5 (or however much you would like to donate) to 70070.
