Staff in Ireland and Australia will be next up for honours

THE Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards are going global and being rolled out in Ireland and Australia,writes Graham Green.

Hugh Anderson, managing director of Godolphin and Darley UK, said: “The stud and stable staff make up the fabric of the sport and these awards are a wonderful opportunity to honour and reward their hard work and dedication. 

“We’re keen to see these awards embraced by the worldwide racing industry and I'm confident they will flourish on a wider scale from the strong foundations laid in Britain.”

 Nominations close on Wednesday,December 5 for the British awards,now in their 12th year and again backed by Godolphin to the tune of more than £120,000 in prize-money.The awards are divided into five categories dedicated to stud and stable staff – the David Nicholson Newcomer Award,Leadership, Rider/Groom, Stud Staff and Dedication to Racing. 

This year, in conjunction with Racing Welfare, the Racing Community Award has been created to recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry and replaces the administration award. 

Nominations are open for owners,trainers, colleagues and managers.Trainers can nominate online via the Racing Administration website.Nominations can also be completed online via britishhorseracing.com/stablestaff, forms may also be downloaded at this address and viaracingpost.com, or text AWARDS to 07970 527339 and a form will be sent to you.The winners will be revealed at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge, London, on February 22.
