Thirsk stalwart honoured

24 April 2015

One of Thirsk’s longest-serving members of staff has been recognised, with the naming of the recently refurbished stable staff hostel after Harry Halliday.

Halliday, 82, has worked at the track since 1977, graduating from the car park team to taking charge of the hostel in 1995. It underwent a £150,000 modernisation over the winter and has been named Halliday’s Lodge.

General manager and clerk of the course James Sanderson said: “Harry is hugely popular with the stable staff and he’s an absolute gentleman.”
