Tim Higgins appointed

TIM HIGGINS has been appointed the new chief executive of Tote Ireland by Horse Racing Ireland beginning his from September.

Higgins has held a number of senior management positions with Microsoft Ireland over the past 15 years and was involved in international assignments in the US and Asia. He most recently held the post of IT Director for European operations and development.

Welcoming the appointment HRI CEO Brian Kavanagh said: "Tim brings a set of skills and experience which will be invaluable to the future development of the Tote. Betting is increasingly an online and mobile experience and advanced understanding of IT and its business applications are fundamental to the future of our business.

"His overall commercial leadership skills, global business perspective and love for horse racing will match our ambitions for the long-term development of the Tote for the benefit of Irish racing."

Higgins, a racehorse owner with a long held interest in racing and breeding, said: "The Tote is, and always will be, an integral a part of Irish racing. I am incredibly positive on the opportunities to grow the business in the coming years.

"I look forward to working with all parties to create a future founded on providing value and service to our loyal customers both on and off course."
