Top official dies

SUSANNA SANTESSON, who held a number of top positions in international racing, died in hospital on Thursday after collapsing at Frankfurt airport. She was 69. 
Santesson was on her way to the Darley Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, where she herself was honoured with a Lifetime Award for services to international racing in 2012. After a successful career as an amateur jockey, she devoted her life to the racing industry and to the support of young people in racing. 
She was chairwoman of the European Association of Racing Schools, vice-president of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies, general secretary of Fegentri (the international association of amateur riders), vice-president of the German Association of Amateur Riders and organiser of the Ladies World Championships.
